ABOUT PTV

PTV is the name of the weekly YouTube show that airs on our YouTube channel throughout the school year. The course students enroll in to be in the PTV Radio TV program is called Radio Television. The class is a dual college credit course taught at Plymouth High School.
The program provides instruction to develop and enhance competencies in various communication, marketing, media, production, and technical functions and tasks employees perform, including management personnel, in radio and TV broadcasting and multimedia fields. Emphasis is placed on learning and mastering production positions to attract students' interest in specific career opportunities in the real world. Students learn about production positions, marketing promotions, on-air positions, broadcast equipment operation, what goes into producing a weekly news and sports show, broadcast regulations and laws, station organization, technical, oral, and written communication, and listening skills needed to work in sports information, sports marketing, or a related multimedia field. Instructional strategies include a hands-on school-based enterprise, real occupational newscast experience, and radio podcast operations of an in-school Internet, television, and radio program with real deadline assignments. Job shadowing opportunities are encouraged and are arranged for second-year students interested in pursuing college or a career in the business. Future internships at local production companies and/or broadcasting stations for students can also be arranged by the instructor per student request. Indiana Department of Education Academic Standards Course Framework RADIO TV I: Dual Credit for qualifying students: If you hold above a 2.6% and you are in 11 or 12 grade you automatically receive dual credit for free through Ivy Tech. The dual credits can be transferred to the college or university you attend in the future. If you are a student in 9-12 you can still qualify for the dual credits by taking the Knowledge Assessment.
